SD38
The SD-38 was best suited for hump and yard duty. Conrail inherited their fleet from the Penn Central and often paired them up with slugs for these duties. They wore CR 6925-6959.
SD40-2
The SD40-2 locomotive was built in the early 1970's. This locomotive was used as
a helper on steep grades and even would be seen pulling freight trains. The SD40-2 locomotive has a 3,000 horsepower engine. These engines still see service today on 1st Class railroads along with Leasing Railroad Companies.

SD50
Between the years of 1983-1986 Conrail purchased 135, 3,500+ horsepower SD-50's in the number series 6700-6834, making Conrail the second largest owner in the nation to own SD50 locomotives.
SD60
In 1985, Conrail purchsed the original three SD-60 demo units from EMD making them CR 6840-6842. Then in 1989 they purchased a short order of 25 units, making them CR 6843-6867
SD60I
When Conrail was unable to purchase more SD-60M's from an over-booked EMD, the Juniata Shops assembled SD-60I kits that EMD had supplied to the railroad and assigned finished units to CR 5575-5654 and CR 5544
SD60M
In late-1992, Conrail had purchased 74 3,800hp SD-60M's. They are basically SD-60's with a wide-cab instead of the standard SD60 cab. They were numbered in the series of CR 5500-5574, CR 5544 is an SD-60I.
SD80MAC
In the 1990's for hauling coal over the Pittsburgh and Boston Lines, Conrail purchased General Motors Locomotive Group's (GMLG) new 5,000hp SD-80MAC. They were numbered CR 4100-4129.
