Norfolk Southern SD40-2 Class

The SD40-2 locomotive was built in the early 1970's. This locomotive was used as a helper engine on he steep grades and would also be seen pulling freight trains. Norfolk Southern has since replaced these locomotives with the SD40E as helpers on the Pittsburgh line and other parts of the railroad. The SD40-2 locomotive has a 3,000 hp engine.
